I want to welcome you as our partner in your student’s education. We value, appreciate, and seek out your involvement and collaboration for the success of your student.

We have put together a parent handbook with the most important information you may need during this school year.  You can access our parent handbook from the parent section on our webpage. The intent of this handbook is to inform you of some basic school procedures and policies.

As we enter another school year, Highlands is excited to continue educating every child and closing the opportunity gap. We will continue utilizing our AVID, PBIS, Social Emotional Learning programs, as well as a few new programs, designed to help every single student achieve.

We are asking all parents/guardians to help us ensure the regular, on-time attendance of their children at school. We monitor attendance closely because research has shown that regular attendance is vital for the success of students in school. California law states that absences are excused only if the child is ill or there is an excuse which meets the requirements of Education Code Section 48205. Even excused absences that cause your child to miss significant amounts of school can cause your child to fall behind in class.

I look forward to working with you in a meaningful partnership for your child. Highlands Elementary will work very hard with you to ensure that your student receives the best education possible. Please take a look at the Highlands Elementary School website to see our school’s handbook, calendar, and other important information that will be helpful to you as we begin this next school year.

I am looking forward to an amazing year at Highlands, with hopes that every student will Fly The Hawk Way!
